Two minutes into the half, Soda City midfielder Anna Bozzone sent a through ball down the line for Tara Collins to run onto. However, Soda City held the Charlotte side scoreless for the remaining half and came out hot to start after the break. WFC took an early first-half lead with goals from Sydney Minarik and Ariana Maibodi within the first 15 minutes of the match. However, Soda City held its own in this rematch. WFC looked to do the double over Soda City after a convincing win in the previous meeting – this time without leading goal scorer Emma Sexton. Led by Head Coach Scott Ginn, WFC hosted Soda City FC on May 27 in a rematch of the season opener two weeks prior. Women’s Football Club of Charlotte’s second season in the WPSL is off to a flying start.
